Bathroom and Kitchen Colour Trends in 2024

As we step into 2024, the world of bathroom and kitchen design continues to evolve, with many of us breaking free from the ordinary and embracing individuality and self-expression in our homes.

From trendy bold colours and textures to smart storage and automated systems, our team of interior designers provides their thoughts and industry insights on potential exciting trends that may influence or help you with your 2024 renovation planning.

In this post, we’re going to focus on 2024 colour palettes and our thanks to Dulux Colour Forecast as they’ve certainly captured some of the personalities and the requests we’re starting to receive from our clients…

Bathroom and kitchen tones are moving toward nature’s colour scheme, bold colours are stealing the show with green continuing to be clients’ favourite and terracotta also making an entrance. Additionally, greige (or grey and beige) sandy tones are making a comeback, bidding goodbye to the cool-tone grey colour palette. White and grey monochromes are taking a back seat as clients become braver and more adventurous with colours and patterns for their bathrooms and kitchens.

Solstice

Solstice embraces rich and organic hues – evoking feelings of strength and joy. It is influenced by the pared-back Scandinavian design combined with the warm tones of the Mediterranean and desert landscapes, turning the clients’ home into a Zen oasis.

Journey

Embracing a maximalist and eclectic feel, the Journey palette brings bohemian charm and lavish mid-tones to your space. We anticipate that clients will steer away from the traditional norms, opting for more adventurous colour choices such as bright pinks and playful aquas with rich brown leading the charge.

Of course, neutrals will never go out of style, but they are leaning more towards warmer tones with buttery and blush tones rising in popularity.

Muse

A colourful palette of rich & deep mid-tone hues, Muse is heavily influenced by the nostalgia of the postmodern era with an emphasis on the ‘70s. Giving off that retro feel, the palette celebrates the free-spirited colours of the past.

We also think that the vibe for many kitchens will be cozy with the hues of an Australian landscape—warm, comforting, and inviting. Think warm earthy tones and sun-kissed yellows capturing the essence of the outdoors.

As we roll into 2024, we’ll see clients continue to embrace this trend with even more raw textures (We’ll be following up on textures on another blog.) From natural marble and concrete to beautiful stone-wear accessories and washed plaster walls, homes will be stripped back. Think the Mediterranean meets farmhouse vibes, creating a rustic charm to our clients’ homes.

And finally, why play it safe with colour? Colour and pattern drenching is an emerging trend we expect to stick around in 2024, it involves the practice of covering every surface (or most surfaces) with the same colour or pattern making a space feel and look bigger with many of our clients opting for the classic green, blue, or pink to burgundy, rust, or plum tones – adding more vibrance to the area.

It’s a bold move, and we love the immersive experience that comes with a bathroom or kitchen fully soaked in delightful colour!
