Reason to celebrate? There sure is! At this year’s HIA-CSR awards, Smarter Bathrooms & Kitchens were finalists for 8 awards, ending the night with Best Renovated Bathroom over $50,001, Best Renovated Kitchen over $50,001, as well asRunner-Up Renovated Bathroom $20,001-$50,000.

Best Renovated Bathroom over $50,001
The transformation of a bedroom to a private ensuite and walk-in robe creates a personal sanctuary in this four bedroom brick Edwardian family home.
The brief was to create a richly visual space inspired by nature that exuded relaxation. Wow factor on entry to the space was important, as well as privacy in the bathing, showering area.
Best Renovated Kitchen over $50,001
In this renovation small but considerable structural change saw the relocation of the kitchen, the addition of two huge Velux Skylights, and the creation of a butler’s pantry and laundry within this grand Victorian Italianate home built in 1870.
As per the design brief, a minimalist, timeless but quirky approach saw the creation of a patchwork in the cabinetry with no matching lines and 3 different strengths of 2-pac paint finish. Blessed with a generous curve up to a 3M height we used the everlasting Carrara Marble in penny rounds as a textural softener.
Runner-Up Renovated Bathroom $20,001-$50,000
The combination of natural stone and timber veneer with the sharply contrasting diagonally laid white gloss hexagonal tiles creates an extra sense of space in this transformation from poky bath/laundry to luxurious main bathroom.
Being an apartment complex, the team overcame building constraints for moving plumbing by adding in a stud wall that doubled as a much desired shower niche.
