St Kilda Kitchen Renovation

The client’s brief for this project was extensive, requiring the relocation of the kitchen to the existing dining room while incorporating a dining space within the room and increasing natural light.

The transformation aimed to turn the dining room into a cozy private kitchen area with a dining corner featuring a custom bench seat. Additionally, an opening was created in the brick wall to establish a butler’s pantry.

The kitchen design featured statement green joinery with a shaker profile, complemented by timber accents and Calcutta stone benchtops and splash back.

We proposed three different layout options and collaborated closely with the client to refine the plan until we landed on the best one suited to their lifestyle.

To maximize space, a custom bench seat was created for the dining area, offering a space-saving solution. Open shelving was incorporated in the kitchen to create an open and airy feel, while a butler’s pantry catered to all storage needs.

A small tech hub was strategically placed next to the fridge, providing a convenient space to charge devices and store essentials. Bold and playful patterned tiles were chosen for the splash back to tie in with similar tiles used in the bathroom.

Soft curves and a butler’s sink paid homage to the traditional and classic style of the home, while a combination of knobs and handles added personality to the design.

Furthermore, the kitchen was equipped with an induction cooktop with downdraft ventilation, ensuring efficient extraction of fumes by exhausting them into the subfloor and out to the atmosphere.

This comprehensive approach resulted in a functional and aesthetically pleasing kitchen that seamlessly blended modern amenities with the timeless charm of the home.
